HHO is a “Combustion Catalyst”, NOT a fuel replacement technology, at least in this stage of advancement. HHO burns too fast by itself and actually works better if it is “slowed down” by the gasoline, diesel, CNG, LPG, or biodiesel fuel.
Our HHO Hybrid Power kits are comprised of a robust, on demand hydrogen generator, an external water/electrolyte reservoir, and a bubbler/filter mechanism. The kit does not need a tank to compress or save the gases in, but uses them as they are made (“on demand”). It operates on the available extra energy of the car alternator, and generally uses less than 500 watts of energy  to operate (less than one horespower).
A unique product based on the discoveries of Yull Brown  in the 60’s; our hydrogen kits electrolyze the hydrogen and oxygen out of the water, without  separating it, creating a unique and energetic form of gas containing  H, O, H2, O2, and even H2O. It enters engine with the air and fuel of the car  and acts as a “combustion catalyst” making the fuel burn faster and cleaner.  The gas turns into water at this point which then turns into superheated steam,  cleaning the inside of the engine of carbon deposits and sludge, and contributes to the extra mileage gained by increasing combustion efficiencies.
The clean hydrogen fuel, along with the 33% pure oxygen (the air  we breathe is only 18% oxygen), extracts more energy out of the gasoline,  diesel, or other fuel. So instead of wasting the energy during incomplete  combustion (requiring catalytic converters and other smog removal items to  chemically alter the emissions), you extract it where it matters most- inside  the engine. That is why mileage goes up, and emissions drop drastically.

HHO Information Section 2 HHO Gas And Hydrogen As A Fuel Source – A Basic Overview

This is the first of 7 parts in your journey to become an expert on HHO Gas and Hydrogen. By the time you finish this course, you will know more about this fascinating subject than 95% of the world. If you’ve never heard of this unusual gas, don’t worry- you’re not alone.
With that said, let’s jump right into this introduction…
Basic Electrolysis
When electricity flows between two metal plates (or wires) that are immersed in water, the water is broken down into its basic molecules- Hydrogen and Oxygen through a process called electrolysis. This electricity is DC (direct current) flowing from the Plus + side to the – side (like from a battery), not AC (alternating current) like you have in your home.
This “DC” is hooked up to the metal plates in water- half of them connected to the – side, half connected to the + side in various configurations.
Normally water by itself will not conduct electricity, so to make this happen you have to add a little catalyst, called an “electrolyte”. The electrolyte allows current to flow between the – side and the + side of the plates. In most cases, without this electrolyte absolutely nothing would happen- they would just sit there in the water. But by adding just a little of this stuff (sometimes just a teaspoon or so) into the water – Voila! Electrolysis begins as the electricity makes the Hydrogen and Oxygen separate.
You can see this yourself very easily by simply talking a 9 volt battery and attaching a small wire to each lead, then immersing those wires in a clear glass with tap water and 2 teaspoons of baking soda dissolved into it.
Make sure you remove about an inch of insulation off the end of the wires before putting them in the water. Keep the wires close together, but not touching. You will immediately see bubbles coming off the two wires- Oxygen off of one, and hydrogen off the other.
The Hydrogen and Oxygen in the water, separate and become a new blend of gases made up of its original molecules – Hydrogen, Hydrogen, and Oxygen; hence the terminology “HHO gas”.  This is not the same process as used in industry to make pure hydrogen or pure oxygen.
In fact, up until the late 1960’s, electrolysis remained basically unchanged. Industries have used it for a hundred years or more to create and separate various gases and store them in pressurized cylinders. Hospitals and labs around the world then use these gases (such as oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, etc.) for patients, research facilities, etc.
The industrial method differs from what we are learning about here. Their method uses a “membrane” in the electrolysis process that separates the hydrogen from the oxygen for storage.
But in the late 1960’s, a researcher by the name of Yull Brown, realized you didn’t need to separate the gases from each other, but could utilize them in a new way, by not separating them, but using them immediately, or “on demand”.  The new gas was coined “Brown’s Gas” and has been more popularized now as HHO Gas.

Electrolysis – Methods and Differences And How You Can Now Use It To Fuel Your Car…
Yesterday, we dove right in and started building a foundation on the basics of electrolysis, and how it is used to separate hydrogen and oxygen out of water. We learned that it is essentially the use of metal plates, tubes, or wires immersed in water with a direct current running through, and an electrolyte added to the water that makes it all work.
We also started talking about the differences between industrial electrolysis and the kind “Yull Brown” discovered called HHO Gas.
This lesson we will get into more detail about that aspect.
As mentioned yesterday, industry has not changed much over the last hundred years when it comes to separating oxygen and hydrogen out of water. Special electrolyzers are built and huge amounts of current are fed into them to create an enormous amount of these gases for industry. It is important to note that this process always separates the molecules by a membrane- the oxygen goes off and out toward the positive (anode) side and the hydrogen collects and vents out on the negative (cathode) side.
This is important for several reasons.:
1.First, industry necessitates pure gases for processes      needing them. If a lab needs pure Hydrogen or Nitrogen      for an experiment, any oxygen in the process would ruin it. In many      applications especially at hospitals and research labs the need for pure      gases is critical.
2.Second, and most important, when the base gases are      separated out, they can be compressed and stored under great pressure for      a long time until they need to be used. Hospitals use pure oxygen all the      time in tanks that were filled by just such a process.
Herein lies the main difference between the “Brown’s Gas” and regular Oxygen/Hydrogen separated by electrolysis.
Safety Warning:
HHO Gas CANNOT be pressurized and stored in most cases. By its very nature, it is too volatile and will explode if attempts are made to pressurize and store it. In fact recently here in California, we had a researcher killed in a violent explosion that brought down half of his building. He was experimenting with hho in large pressurized vessels.
If you attempt this I warn you it is very unstable and quite dangerous- be careful trying to store it.
However, just because you can’t compress it doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. In fact, this works in our favor because it can be produced in vast quantities (if you have a GOOD design), and works great as an “On-Demand” system.
This same energy that would be volatile if stored, actually “energizes” the combustion process inside your engine, literally cracking the gasoline or diesel molecules and causing them to burn more quickly, more efficiently, thereby extracting more energy from the fuel that would normally just be wasted as heat or unburnt fuel/hydrocarbons. We have some hard evidence of this if you go to our home page now (see link below) and scroll to the bottom. Look at how much one of our hho generators lowered this cars emissions- incredible!
The researcher we mentioned earlier, Yull Brown, was also the first man to realize that this HHO gas could actually be used to enhance the combustion process in cars. In fact, some of his patents cover very large electrolyzers that are continually being perfected and used today for electrolyzers.
These are quite large and wouldn’t fit into a car, but they are used to power torches- water torches. In fact these torches have unique properties that no other gas has. They will NOT boil water, even if the flame is left intact on the surface for a long time. But the same flame, held on Tungsten will instantly sublimate it which takes a temperature of 4600 degrees! It is also the only flame that can weld dissimilar objects like a steel rod onto brick. This HHO gas can also, under the perfect circumstances, create an Implosion instead of an Explosion, creating enormous vacuum instead of pressure.

Section 4 – Seven Day Expert On Hydrogen

 Types of Electrolyzers- The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Well, it’s day three, and hopefully you are beginning to understand some of the basic science involved in creating HHO Gas as an exciting alternative fuel (actually, more like a fuel additive or as I prefer- a catalyst). Let’s jump right in and discuss the various designs being experimented with and used, and why some of them should be avoided like the plague.
There are Four Basic Types of electrolyzers, and Three Different Styles or assembly methods. Let’s look at types first. They are as s:
Wires, Screens/Mesh, Plates, Tubes
Let’s take a quick look at each of these…
Generally, these consist of two or more wires wrapped in a spiral around a support mechanism. One wire is hooked to positive side, one to the negative. These were very popular at first, as they were inexpensive and quick to build. In fact, there is a “Mason Jar” design floating around that has been very popularized due to heavy marketing and book sales. Unfortunately, it is also one of the LEAST efficient electrolyzers available, for reasons we will discuss later.
The screen electrolyzers are generally just available steel window screen or stainless steel mesh variations cut to fit into a container and stacked in various configurations so that half are positive and half are negative. Each layer must be insulated from the other or they will short out. This type is popular among beginners, because it makes a lot of bubbles when you hook it up to a power source, but if you actually measure the density of gas produced (like I show you how in my book), it’s not really that good. Makes for a good show, though!
By far, the most popular and widely used, steel plates are what industry uses to create vast amounts of gases to separate and store. They consist of high quality plates of 316L stainless steel, which doesn’t corrode under the heavy exposure to current in the electrolyte. They are the most efficient; meaning less energy is wasted as heat, and directly converted to hydrogen and oxygen. The best designs at this time use some configuration of these plates – we will get into more detail about this in a minute.
Tubes are all the rage right now, and many use them in their design. The reason for their popularity is because of a man named Stanley Meyer, who in the 70’s, actually built a car using sophisticated electronics and his own tube design that ran on 100% water! There are many patents he took out on this process, but he died mysteriously before being able to fully communicate how it worked, and to this day no one has yet been able to duplicate his work (as a side note:
The tubes used in this design are again high quality stainless steel and generally are stacked concentrically, one inside the other- being insulated so they don’t touch. Some use a ring of tubes like Meyer, with multiple tubes having just one smaller tube inside, others use a series of concentric tubes, starting from a large diameter to progressively smaller ones.
These hold promise and are a second place contender in our opinion. More research is needed to overcome certain obstacles with this design…
Let’s revisit the plate design for a minute…
True electrolysis is no mystery. It is simply a function of the amount of current PLUS the overall area of metal exposed in the electrolyte.
This is why spirals I mentioned earlier in this article, are so inefficient. You have so very little metal actually exposed (maybe a few square inches) compared to a plate design (one of our newest kits has almost 720 Square inches of stainless!). There is an argument for plates in the realm of efficiency, the ability to translate as much energy into hho gas without losing it in the form of wasted heat. That is where the style or assembly of the electrolyzer comes into play.
This heat is also a downfall in the tube and spiral designs. They can get hot fast, literally boiling the water, and can lead to a lot of problems quickly.

There are three basic styles of electrolyzers.
The original Wet Cell, The more common Dry Cell, and the New Hybrid Cell which we introduced last year to a sell-out crowd. The wet cell is comprised of the plate stack being completely immersed in the electrolyte liquid. The dry cell is comprised of the plate stack separated by gaskets, with holes drilled in each plate for the electrolyte to flow. The stack is not immersed, the fluid is fed into the inside from an external reservoir.
Both wet cells and dry cells have good design elements and bad problems. Dry cells can actually be quite dangerous if anything is dropped on them. Their exposed edges will arc and spark like a welder- not a good idea with hydrogen gas nearby.
The Hybrid Cell we introduced last year, takes the strengths of both and eliminates the weaknesses and dangers- the perfect combination of design.

The Two Basic Methods of Powering Hydrogen Generators Used In Vehicles Today
So now Dan, let’s look at another aspect that we haven’t yet covered, as it pertains to vehicle use; the actual “Method” of powering an electrolyzer.
In previous chapters, we discussed the “designs” of electrolyzers – what the innards were made of to make all of it work. Today, we’re going to discuss the all important aspect of the “Powering” of the unit- getting the electricity into it properly.
In factories, the gigantic electrolyzers are run using raw current, and LOTS of it. In fact, remember what we learned earlier? Production is the result of how much current + how much steel is exposed to the electrolyte. More plate area will give more increase in gas production. Industries aren’t limited to a car battery, so they can pump as much energy as they want to create any level of gas. They can pour in tons of amps and high voltage, but we obviously  have serious limits.
First off, we only have one or two 12 volt batteries (like in the big diesel trucks). We also are limited to total current we can use because the alternator (which keeps our battery charged), is only designed to withstand so much load. Thankfully, the newer cars are designed with much more robust alternators than 30 years ago, due to the demand of high wattage Audio/Video systems and accessories being demanded by consumers nowadays.
We have only rarely come across alternators not able to handle the load of a normal hho generator. It is a good idea to check if you are unsure, but most modern cars have no trouble with the extra 25-35 amps. The ones that run into trouble are older cars from 60’s or 70’s that had an old AM/FM radio and a few accessories- many times those alternators only put out a total of 35 amps.
We once donated a $800 system to a “Green” business who was going to drive across country espousing the wonders of hho. He totally misrepresented himself and did not do what we told him to do, including changing out the alternator. He told us there were going to be 70,000 people at his Greenfest event, and 15 bands, when in reality there were about 24 people and 5 really bad singers strumming guitars and singing Kumbaya, off key.
So obviously he didn’t get results, running our largest 773 Monster Mega Brick (which is best at 35 amps). Instead of fixing his car and all its problems, he proceeded to drive across country complaining how the technology doesn’t work!
What a jerk. Lost time and a lot of money and bad PR trying to help the guy out- sometimes it doesn’t pay to be nice.
The point of this conversation is: you must have a decent running vehicle (tuned up, maintained) and most importantly a good alternator to have the optimum results. Now let’s explore…
Power Up!
There are TWO basic ways of powering a hydrogen generator. The first, and most common, is called “Brute Force”. The second one has only been getting more and more popular these last couple years as the industry has evolved. It is the EC method or “Electronic Control”.
Let’s look at these to methods in more detail…
 Brute Force
Brute Force is just like it sounds. Pure, unadulterated battery current released straight into the electrolyzer like steroids into a body builder.
These are the easiest to hook up and are pretty straight forward. One side of your generator is hooked up to the black or negative side of the battery. The other side is hooked through a simple switch (called a relay) and a fuse (to protect your cars’ electrical system) then to the red side or positive terminal of your battery. The switch is hooked up so that when you turn your car on, the hydrogen generator immediately starts making HHO Gas. When you turn it off, it instantly stops making it, and any little remaining gas is sucked out and used by the engine as it shuts down. Simple and easy- right?
I purposely designed our Hybrid Cells with the ability to operate either way- brute force or with electronic control, but most commonly WITHOUT the need for electronic control. In fact, you can pump a lot of current (50-60 amps through ours and NOT have them melt on you). We sell a lot of kits because of that, and most people like the simplicity in hooking up a brute force generator. They are definitely faster to install and get running.
EC – Electronic Control
The second method of powering an electrolyzer is what we call EC or Electronic Control. Unlike the Brute Force method, this uses a circuit board that “Pulses” the current at a certain frequency (called a PWM or Pulse Width Modulator), instead of just straight current flowing through like with the brute force model..
This should always be installed with a gauge or meter, so you can manually turn the PWM up or down for efficiency. We always include a high quality lighted gauge with our complete kits, along with the circuit board.
Now, I have a lot of my competitors and fellow experimenters rail on me telling me how much higher quality hho gas you get with a high frequency PWM board pulsing the current. That their systems are superior because of this higher form of gas…
When I ask them the results of their customers- they tell me 20-40% increases, which is the same (or even less) than many of our customers get with our systems. So if the gas is so great, and much higher energy content, then why aren’t their customers achieving way better mileage then us? They usually hang up or quit emailing back after I pose that question…
I have not seen any hard evidence that supports that theory at all. Now, there are advantages to each, and I will explain those next…
 What’s the difference?
Glad you asked.
While the Brute Force model is widely popular because of its ease of installation and resulting cheaper cost, it has a couple of limitations. First, you have to use a heavier cable to hook it up or it could melt the wires (we include 10 gauge stranded cable in our kits). You also need a heavier duty fuse and relay so they don’t burn up due to the steady, heavy current. Most kits give you a cheap 30 amp relay- we supply a 70 amp in our kits and a 40 amp heavy duty fuse.
CAUTION: Wherever you decide to buy a kit, or if you build it yourself, do NOT use the wimpy relays and fuses that so many of the rookie companies sell with their systems. They include them because they are CHEAP. Well, you get what you pay for, and believe me, they will burn up in very short order. We include the most robust accessories in our kits available today.
Also, you have no outside control over the current your generator draws. Let me explain…Remember at the beginning we talked about the necessity of using an electrolyte to make a current flow through water? Well, with a Brute Force Model, you must add enough electrolyte when you set it up, so that when it’s cold it is drawing only about 25-30 Amps (we show you how to do all this- it’s really quite easy). That way, when your vehicle warms up, it is drawing a steady 30-35 amps and no more. Sometimes this can be a little challenging on extremely hot days and long commutes, where the current has a tendency to creep up a little.
Thankfully, our kits can handle 50 – 60 amps  without melting or burning up, something most other kits would never be able to handle.

With the Electronic Control, you never have to worry about that. You simply mix enough electrolyte to get it right where you want it. This has some advantages because you immediately get high current and higher production out of your generator and as it warms up you turn the dial down on your PWM so that it always stays at the same current. This allows more efficiency and more control in a given period. One area where this is helpful is in extreme freezing climates. By adding a lot more electrolyte to the water, and controlling the amps manually, you can hold off freezing to a much lower temp.

 Challenges to This New Industry of Hydrogen Technology
Well it’s the sixth day already, and I hope you are not getting overwhelmed by the volume of material we’ve been covering in this series. But my goal was to fully educate you so you would be an expert in this area in 7 days or less – I hope you feel I’m holding up my end of the bargain. If not, I’ll refund the full amount you paid me for this information- 😉
I have a lot of people who want to know if HHO is so good- why doesn’t Detroit put them in all their cars? Gooood Question.
One reason I think is that most of those good ole boys in charge refuse to acknowledge anything if they didn’t create it. Many better engine and carburetor designs have been patented over the years, but the Big Three refuse to use them. If one was cynical, one might believe they are in cahoots with Big Oil.
Another more practical reason may be that hho generator systems do require a little maintenance, with periodic draining and flushing/refilling with fresh water. It is not difficult and isn’t any different than needing to change your oil to keep your engine running nicely. But maybe they thought it would be too much for the average consumer.
Then again, there may be a more sinister plan at work to artificially keep gas prices high and consumption at a certain level to keep lining the pockets of particular energy brokers in charge. That would explain why we are only “allowed” a certain increase in mileage each year as the new models come out.
While we’re on that subject, have you ever heard of guy named Pogue? He invented and patented an innovative carburetor in the 30’s that “vaporized the gas” instead of squirting liquid in to the engine like normal cars. The result was that his carburetor got 200 miles per gallon! Can you imagine that? You could just about drive across country and back again on one tank of gas.
Interestingly, within weeks of his patent being granted, the oil companies started adding sulphur and lead into their formulas which effectively caked itself onto the inside of his carburetor and rendered it useless.
In the late eighties, early nineties, the auto manufacturers eliminated the carb altogether and moved to fuel injection, which sprays a mist, but does not allow gas to be vaporized. This is why we have had basically the SAME average mileage in cars for decades; it is literally engineered – designed into our vehicles.
And despite increases in efficiency, and lighter materials being used (remember when you could bump into something with a bumper and it didn’t cost $1500 to get it fixed?), mileage remains almost the same. Have you ever wondered about that? Did you know the original Model T Ford got 24 MPG? If that inefficient thing could do that, why hasn’t our Big Three made better progress in a hundred years? That is the question to ask yourself….
What about the Warranty?
If you want your dealer to get all teary eyed and excited about your decision to become responsible and environmentally active by purchasing an emissions lowering, gas-sipping hydrogen generator, it probably is not going to happen. Thankfully, there is a thing called the Moss/Magnusson Act that prevents them from not honoring a warranty because of aftermarket parts added on, unless they can prove it caused the damage. To date, no car has been harmed by this type of hydrogen injection.
If you want more info, get our manual which goes into it more detail, but just know that this was passed so that the people who added aftermarket products to their cars (like headers, high flow catalytic converters and mufflers, high flow air filters, etc) would not have the whole warranty trashed because they modified it for better performance. As long as it isn’t the cause for the damage, they HAVE to honor the warranty. Now, let me say here, that just because they should doesn’t mean they will. If you are unsure, check with your dealer.
So what is one to do? My suggestion- Build or buy a kit, Install it, save gas, clean the environment. If your car is still under warranty (most expire after 3 years anyway), and you are concerned about the dealer’s concept of using an environmentally safe Hybrid Fuel like hydrogen, then just take 10 minutes and remove it before servicing. You don’t disconnect or in any way harm the existing engine with an HHO generator, so it will just revert back to the same mileage you had before you put one in. After you’re done- just pop it back in. But you can do what you want- it’s strictly up to you. It’s just one man’s opinion…
Our goal is to legitimize this industry and with some of our new designs coming soon, we hope to do that in a big way. as we continue to make more and more people aware of this great technology and forge forward with even better designs and discoveries, the general public, dealerships, and others will eventually be left with no choice but to accept the changes necessary to make this technology mainstream.

We have spent the last 8 days together learning all about Hydrogen, and HHO Gas; how it’s made, the various design functions, how it’s powered, the best types available, challenges, breakthroughs, etc.
